I read this book during the Read-a-thon. The first book in this series Dearest Clementine was really good, and Finding Dandelion, which can be read as a stand-alone, was good too.
Danielle is Clementine’s roommate. She is quite cool. I really liked her and her thinking. She was down to earth and had a gay best friend Travis, and he was hilarious. I really liked their dynamics.
Jax is the playboy. And Clementine’s twin brother. Dani and Jax’s situation was a bit funny although quite weird. When they first see each other randomly, he keeps going on like “omg I can’t forget this girl”. Then they meet at the club for his birthday and he has no idea who she is. Um, what? Ok, I get that in clubs are quite dark with little light flashing here and there, but come on – this is the girl you were thinking about for days, supposedly. Weird.
They hook up at the club. Then he leaves cause his neighbor locked herself out. He goes to help her, falls and hit his head. He forgets about the whole night. Um, okaaay. Obviously the next time he sees Dani he (again) has no clue who she is. This was tricky.
Anyway. They finally get together, and all is good until Jax’s girls from the past start meddling. And the fact that her sister has forbidden him to mess with her roommates. Drama, lots of drama.
But I did enjoy this story. I really liked Danielle and how she struggled with her mother’s illness. And I loved her mom! How she said that near death experience makes you re-evaluate everything, and how swearing is good for the soul – if you swear, mean it. I thought the novel was beautifully written.
“How do you live when you know the one person you love more than life itself will die? How do you go on? How do you do the routine shit like go to school and do laundry and concentrate on homework when your mom’s very existence sits like an hourglass running out of sand?”
The sexy scenes were good too. Altogether this book was good. I enjoyed it. I would recommend Finding Dandelion to anyone who likes NA contemporary romance.
